I took my Mk1 Escort Mexico to Dave at Phoenix Motor Bodies after the previous owner had badly restored the shell. The quality of the work that followed is nothing short of perfection. My concerns of panels not fitting and lines being out were were soon dashed as what i collected from Dave was better than when it left the factory in 1972.
I received regular updates and visits were welcomed during the restoration which made the whole process a pleasureable experience, 12 months on i regularly visit Dave for a cuppa and a chat.
To summarise, a genuine, friendly chap with craftsmanship, work ethos and customer service rarely found today.

If you need to have any restoration work done to your motor then i can't recommend Dave's work highly enough, i have an 1800s that was held together with filler and old oil cans until Dave worked his magic. I was kept in the picture throughout the rebuild and i believe the cost was more than fair. The only fly in the ointment is the fact that you have to make the tea and supply the biscuits when you call in.

For anyone considering car body repairs, i can unreservedly recommend Dave Gate from Phoenix Motor Bodies. Dave took my Escort Mk2 Mexico shell and turned what was essentially a susty old sow's ear into a rust free car. The workmanship and skill is first class and all the repairs were carried out to a very high standard. Dave fabricated and fitted complex and impossible to source repair sections which could not be distinguished from the genuine article. All the metalwork is done with great attention to detail and sympathetic to originality. I was very impressed by the knowledge of the particular marque and with his recommendations of what works were required. I would without doubt entrust any of my cars to Dave at Phoenix, who is a genuine pleasure to deal with.

My E Type Jaguar had reached the stage in its restoration that precise bodywork was required to prepare it for a full respray. Dave discussed and advised the best way to complete the work which was then carried out in a full and professional manner.I visited regularly during the time my car was at Phoenix which allowed me to see the full extent of Dave's skill and attention to detail. The end result was brilliant and i would recommend Phoenix Motor Bodies to anyone who wants their car repaired correctly and to a high standard.

Having done smaller repair jobs on a couple ofmy Minis in the past Dave was the obvious choice for my latest Cooper S project. Although the shell was reasonably good considering it has stood untouched for some 30 years it required new boot floor, front wings, sills, floor sections, doors and more. Dave is a perfectionist regarding panel gaps and his welding skills as second to none.It is difficult to see where he has done some of the repairs. The job took 3 weeks start to finish. A very helpfull and friendly chap who gets on with the job and keeps you informed of progress each step of the way.
